Closer to Oklahoma City, Hefner covers 2,580 1 surface acres. Its primary purpose is to supply water, but it’s also a recreation area. The lake has three boat ramps, one picnic area, one boat storage area, two covered fishing docks, one pier and two boat slip areas. It offers great fishing for walleye, crappie, white bass and channel catfish - but no swimming. You can, however, use your sailboard as it is also one of the best sailing lakes in the country. Almost circumventing Hefner is 1 10.5 miles of paved roadway that’s specifically for joggers, walkers, skaters, bikers - but not cars.
